Round Rock, a mostly Williamson County city, is 17 miles north of downtown Austin and straddles the Williamson and Travis County line. Round Rock is the second largest city in the metropolitan statistical area with a population of 130,405 according to the 2023 U.S. Census population. It has satellite campus for Texas State University and Texas A&M.

The Round Rock Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management (HSEM) is committed to serving the community before, during and after a major emergency or disaster through effective coordination of city departments, partnering agencies and organizations and encouraging community preparedness.

Round Rock uses the Capital Area Council of Governments (CAPCOG) Regional Notification System to notify residents about specific emergencies. Cell phone users must register their phones at WarnCentralTexas.org to receive emergency messages by phone, email and/or text. Round Rock will post emergency information on the city’s website, https://www.roundrocktexas.gov/, and social media outlets, on Twitter @RoundRock and on Facebook at  https://www.facebook.com/roundrock/. Round Rock does not monitor social media posts.
