The mission of the City of Austin Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management (HSEM) is to serve as the coordinating focal point for preparedness, response, recovery, and education in any emergency or disaster that disrupts the community.
Austin HSEM uses the CAPCOG Regional Notification System to notify residents about specific emergencies. Cell phone users must register at WarnCentralTexas.org to receive the notification system’s messages by phone, email and text. For the most up-to-date information about City of Austin operations, monitor City social media on Twitter, @austintexasgov, or Facebook, facebook.com/austintexasgov. Additionally, updates will be posted on the City’s website at www.austintexas.gov and www.austintexas.gov/hsem. City disaster recovery information will be posted at www.austintexas.gov/help.
