La Grange is a city in Fayette County, Texas, United States, near the Colorado River. It is located between Houston and Austin on Texas State Highway 71. The population was 4,391 at the 2020 census. La Grange is the county seat of Fayette County.

The City of La Grange Emergency Management Office coordinates emergency response in the city’s area with other local government agencies to provide the earliest warnings and response time as possible for its residents. It conducts programs and activities designed to provide its residents, business owners and visitors, with the ability to prepare for, cope with, and recover from the effects of disasters. This is achieved through information and resource exchange, working with the public and private sectors, and all levels of government through the use of modern technology. La Grange’s other public safety agencies include La Grange Police Department, La Grange Volunteer Fire Department and Fayette County EMS.
La Grange uses the Capital Area Council of Governments (CAPCOG) Regional Notification System to notify residents about specific emergencies. To receive the notification system’s messages by phone, email and text, cell phone users should register at WarnCentralTexas.org. If you have a landline, you are automatically registered.
